As a gamer on all fronts, not only was I all over the Battlefield 3 Beta, but I also got my hands on the recently released Sims 3 ‘Create a Pet’ demo.
As far as Sims games go, you’re rarely disappointed. The mechanics remain generally the same, all they do is up the graphics and potential to do things in the Utopian reality of Sunset Valley.
As a veteran of all Sims games before the release of Sims 3 on June 2nd 2009, I have played the previous version of a Pets title, and I become the notorious Cat Lady of my town. This nostalgic excitement bubbled up when news came to my ears of Maxis’ newest expansion pack.
Offering a vast array of the usual cats and dogs, you can now create your own bloomin’ horse if you want. The graphics again are incredibly good and as a casual game, the creating process was simple to grasp as it followed precise patterns to it’s predecessor.
My only qualm was not being able to then play around with my new pets in a small sheltered environment, blocked entirely from any existing saved game files you have. As a fond player and graphical nerdling, I genuinely just wanted to see if the AI animation was any better improved from the last title but I guess there’s not much a simpleton like me can do, apart from wait for the release on October 18th.
In summary, an top notch addition to a charming game series with intense attention to detail and the promise to be a lot of fun to those longing to be a Cat Lady again.
